Tsuno-daishi is a legendary Japanese protective figure associated with warding off misfortune and harmful influences. Originating from the story of the Buddhist monk Ryōgen, the horned silhouette became a well-known symbol in Japanese folk tradition. Its bold monochrome form blends historical mystery with striking visual impact. This is one of many variations. 本躰如意輪　出首楞嚴定 破生死魔怨　現作魔王身 This is a Chinese poetry-style phrase expressing the sacred power of Cintāmaṇicakra Avalokiteśvara and its true meaning (the fierce aspect as the reverse side of compassion). In particular, it carries a profound Buddhist meaning in which a monk subdues demons (the suffering of birth and death) through compassion, or Avalokiteśvara takes even the form of a demon king in order to save sentient beings.
