Tsuki hyakushi - Akiyama Buemon (1886) Samarai Postcard
This 1886 artwork called Tsuki Hyakushi by Akiyama Buemon is a Japanese piece, originally done on mulberry paper. It depicts the samurai Yukimori, who lived during the Sengoku period in the 1500s, when the country was at war. He wears the armour of a foot soldier known as "tosei gusoku", or modern equipment. The crescent moon shown on his helmet was a sign of good luck.
