True Towel Tales No. 4 Long Apron
Long white apron with a vintage image of an ad run by Cannon Mills for their Cannon towels. This ad shows a group of handsome, young soldiers in the tank corps recreating around a pool. One is standing guard, one is in a jeep, and the rest are enjoying the antics of a soldier, perhaps the sergeant, using his towel as a toga white being crowned with a make-shift laurel wreath.
Cannon Towels ran these ads in WWII which were based on actual letters they received from the boys in the field about their products. The art was done by prolific artist James Bingham which shows off his excellent skills. The art is as such to tantalize the ad's audience, women, so what's better then a bunch of scantily clad soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen for all those lonely ladies back home?
