Tristan and Isolde (Medieval Romance) Vintage Art Tile
This design features a painting by Edmund Blair Leighton (1852–1922), who was was an English painter of historical genre scenes, specialising in Regency and medieval subjects. It shows Tristan and Isolde (or Iseult), a couple known from chivalric romance tales: Tristan was a Cornish knight who shared an adulterous relationship with the Irish princess Isolde. The story was probably influenced by the Arthurian romance of Lancelot and Guinevere, and has had a significant impact on Western art and literature. Edmund Blair Leighton's original painting was produced in 1902.
