Tojinbo Cliffs Japan Postcard
Tojinbo is a rugged stretch of coastline in Fukui Prefecture famous for its unique basaltic rock formations. These hexagonal and pentagonal columns were formed by volcanic activity and have been carved into dramatic cliffs by the relentless waves of the Sea of Japan.
It is one of only three places in the world with such extensive geological formations of this type. The site offers a powerful visual of nature's raw strength, with steep drops and crashing white foam against dark, geometric rocks.
