Time To Add Long Term Care to Medicare T-Shirt

Medicare is a critical lifeline for seniors. It provides affordable medical care for most retirees. But did you know that Medicare does NOT provide for long term care? If you wind up long term in a nursing home, you’ll need to have costly private insurance above and beyond Medicare or pay the very substantial costs out of your own pocket. Medicaid will pay for long term care, but you have to be or become nearly destitute to qualify. It is time to expand Medicare to provide protection from long term care poverty to the middle class, just as Obamacare has done for medical care.
