The white-lipped pit viper ceramic ornament

The white-lipped pit viper (Trimeresurus albolabris) is a venomous pit viper species endemic to Southeast Asia. It is a medium-sized, long, thin arboreal, pitviper with triangular head, distinct from neck; adults usually are 40-60 cm long (max. 100 cm). In this subspecies, the lip is not sharply demarcated from the rest of the head. These are venomous pit vipers, mainly nocturnal, and not aggressive except when disturbed. They are ambush predators and wait motionless, hanging in an S-shaped position, for prey to come past. They then grab their prey and hang with it in the air. Can be found in forest, shrubland, plains, agricultural areas, and gardens. Usually found off the ground in trees or bushes. It is widespread and can tolerate a range of habitats.
