The Trickster Tarot Card Art

A dark, androgynous figure marionettes a man and woman. Through rewriting histories and paths, he influences their lives, and puts them into situations of great distress. He is a cunning figure, who benefits from the failure of the hero. He works to keep the Fool, a fool. All that he offers, whether through bargains or gifts, only serves him in the end. Think about your own life. Have you made promises, accepted gifts, struck deals or signed contracts that have actually become a trap to you? Do you feel a sense of imprisonment? This card can represent an outside influence, or your own subconscious working against you. The Trickster is an adversary for good or ill. He can perform acts of great charity, but will require recompense. He cannot be beaten with anger, weapons or forceful commitments, acts of strength or cunning. The only way to win your freedom from the Trickster is to release the filament that connects you to his book. This frees you from his influence. At some point, you will come to this moment of reckoning with your Trickster.
