This design features an painting by Max Liebermann (1847–1935), a German painter and printmaker of Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry who was one of the leading proponents of Impressionism in Germany. It is a portrait of the German surgeon Ferdinand Sauerbruch. The painting was completed in 1932. It is a classic image of a scientist wearing the traditional white coat.
