The Rose Garden in the Dolomites seen by Saint Cyprian is a painting by Toni Haller (Austrian, 1907-1944).
The legend says that once upon a time King Laurin fell in love with a beautiful girl and abducted her to his rose garden. When her promised man and his knights came to free her, King Laurin took his magic hood and the magic belt which gave him the force of 12 men. But the knights recognized his position by the movements of the roses and overpowered him. Thereupon King Laurin cursed the rose garden which betrayed him: no human eye should ever see its beauty again, neither by day nor by night - but he forgot the twilight. And in these short moments the Catinaccio Massif shines in beautiful red colours - a spectacular phenomenon well-known as “Enrosadira”.

Gorgeous paper, a little heavier than traditional decoupage tissue, but it worked beautifully on my project nonetheless. Elegant - simple- tres chic! The printing turned out beautifully, it is consistent throughout the entire print with a somewhat faded or mottled coloration. I am in love with this paper.
