Maruni Daki Myouga Notepad

Myoga crest. This is the most commonly used myoga crest (according to Takazawa et al., "The Encyclopedia of Family Crests"). During the medieval period, the Matara faith was practiced, in which myoga was offered to the deity's image and bamboo was placed beside it as a form of worship. Myoga represents worldly desires, while bamboo represents nothingness. In other words, one can attain enlightenment by rendering all worldly desires as empty as bamboo. Myoga is a symbol of this deity. Matara is a transformed form of the deity Okuninushi, associated with the Honji Suijaku belief that emerged in the early Heian period. As Matara is also a deity of ancestor worship, believed to govern the dead and spirits, those who worshiped it were said to attain a peaceful death (according to Ito Kosaku, "Crest")
