The Mason Dixon Line Postcard
Took this photo while travelling to Gettysburg National Military Park for the 150th anniversary of the battle of Gettysburg. The Mason-Dixon line was surveyed between 1763 and 1767 by Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon to resolve a dispute between British colonies in Colonial America. The popular usage symbolizes a cultural boundary between the Northeastern and the Southern United States (aka Dixie). The line formed the borders of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and West Virginia.
