An early 20th century photo of the Golden Gate, in Jerusalem, the holy land , Israel. The Golden Gate is the only gate in the wall of Jerusalem that leads directly to Temple Mount and, according to Christian belief, this is the gate through which Jesus entered Jerusalem. According to Jewish belief, the "Shekhinah" (Divine Presence) used to appear through the eastern Gate and the Messiah will enter Jerusalem at the end of days. This is the reason why Jews call it the Gate of Mercy ("Shaar ha Rahamim"). This beautiful photo was produced by Lehnert and Landrock, Cairo.
