The Four Seasons - Summer Poster

The Four Seasons - Summer Poster

This is a reproduction of “The Four Seasons - Summer” between 1660 and 1664 1634 by Nicolas Poussin. The paimting was one of four produced in Rome between 1660 and 1664, commissioned by the duc de Richlieu, nephew of the Cardinal. They depict Biblical figures at different times of day during the different seasons and were executed when Poussin was in failing health and afflicted with a remor in his hands. They are in their own room in the Louvre. This painting depicts Ruth and Boz in the fields of grain. Poussin was born in Normandy and ran away to Paris when he was eighteen. He moved to Rome when he was thirty in the company of his friend Marino and secured the patronage of the Cardinal Barbarini. He participated in the emerging Roman Baroque style. He returned to France in 1640 and became First Painter to Louis XIII but returned to Rome in disgust at the intrigues of the French Court. He continued to work there but began to decline in health after 1650. He died in Rome in 1664 leaving no children. This masterpiece is an oil on canvas and measures 46.5 by 63 inches. It is in the Musee du Louvre in Paris.

My Bible verse postcard, turned out excellent. I love it and have it already framed. It was so reasonably priced for something done so well. Thank you to Zazzle and the artist! I thought it looked exactly like what I ordered. Perfect.

Poster is printed clearly, good quality . Inclusive of many prints . The shipping was the problem. Box was flimsy and item got bent.. only suggestion would have been to put in a canister or mark fragile. Printing was exactly as shown
