The Dedication (Medieval Knight and His Lady) Tile

This design features a painting by the English artist Edmund Blair Leighton (1852–1922). It depicts a medieval knight in full armour kneeling down in front of a church's altar as he offers his sword as a symbol of piety and penitence. His wife, the noble lady, is kneeling beside him and holding her hands together in prayer to God. The morning sun can be seen through an archway in the background. There is another knight or warrior or equerry holding the reins of a horse, waiting for the gentleman and his lady. The knight is wearing chainmail and a tunic with a red Christian cross, a symbol of the English Kingdom. His wife is wearing an expensive green gown made of fine fabric. She also has a veil on her head to show her respect for her religion. The original art was painted in 1908.
