The Caryatid Porch of the Erechtheion in Athens Postcard
The Porch of the Caryatids (or Porch of the Maidens), south side of the Erechtheion (or Erechtheum), an ancient Greek temple built between 421 and 406 BC, on the north side of the Acropolis of Athens in Greece. A caryatid is a sculpted female figure serving as an architectural support, taking the place of a column or a pillar, supporting an entablature on her head. The Acropolis of Athens is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Photo by Dennis Jarvis
