The British Invasion was the term used to describe the sudden and massive influx of British popular music to American shores in the mid 1960s. Following the huge success of The Beatles and their visits to the USA, the doors were open for other British acts to dash across the Atlantic to try their own luck on the American music-buying public. Many of these acts enjoyed great success, others became one hit wonders. As a whole, though, they came to represent British music in the Sixties.
