Table Mountain, Cape Town, Western Cape Postcard

Table Mountain is a flat-topped sandstone plateau that serves as the iconic centerpiece of Cape Town, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the vibrant City Bowl. Part of a protected National Park, the mountain is often draped in a 'tablecloth' of thick white clouds, which spill over the precipitous cliffs as the southeastern wind blows. The mountain is home to the incredibly diverse Cape Floral Kingdom, featuring unique fynbos vegetation found nowhere else on earth. From a distance, its massive, sheer-walled silhouette provides a sense of permanent grandeur, especially when the setting sun hits the rock face, turning the sandstone into a glowing wall of gold and ochre against the darkening sea.
