For those of you not beholden to the sway of every shiny object that looks your way, this is your shirt. Believe in the power of the semicolon; use it; use it and stave off the dark semicolon-less ages that those against its use would have us stumble backwards into, blindly groping for some stolid grammatical device to use when the clauses you are joining are not of similar cloth enough to warrant the invocation of a comma, nor of disparate enough aim to necessitate the forcible separation of their spacial and temporal existence by the use of a period. You have used the semicolon with pride and satisfaction; you plan to continue with glee and stern resolve; moreover, to those who would say they "do not believe in the semicolon," you say that it is not a matter of belief but a matter of reality, for the existence of the semicolon is incontrovertible; however, since these self-described "non-believers" wish to frame the discourse in terms of this patently illegitimate dichotomy between belief and disbelief in the semicolon, you stand up proudly and yawp barbarically to the heavens your utter and undying belief in them and all they represent. The battle lines are drawn; your lot is cast. You raise your pen; you make your mark. Oh yeah, and you wear it on your shirt, too.
