Swainson's Hawk, light phase, adult female T-Shirt

Swainson's Hawk (Buteo swainsoni). Through millennial eons, this species has evolved with 3 distinct, biologically chromatic configurations: 1. Dark morph, revealing plumage in substantially darker shades. 2. Light, or pale morph, with a display of lighter, diminished tones. 3. Light, or pale phase, with a pronounced display of reddish brown, rufous coloration. The illustration presents an adult female from category 2, the lighter spectrum. These beautiful raptors claim a huge territorial range in North America. In Canada, their nests are constructed in the Provinces of Yukon, Northwest Territories, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. In the United States of America, they claim sky and land, from Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, encompassing hundreds of thousands of square kilometres and miles across Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Minnesota and Iowa. South of the border, in the United Mexican States, they are established in Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, Zacatecas and Durango. As the last Summer months of August and September depart for the arrival of Autumn, Swainson's Hawks commence for their long distance, trans-continental migration. In the Northern Latitudes of Alaska and Canada, the time to depart arrives sooner, before traces of frost bear witness to falling snow. These majestic birds are passengers of the wind, soaring higher than any kite. Their seasonal destination is South America: the Republic of Paraguay, the Federative Republic of Brazil, the Oriental Republic of Uruguay and the Argentine Republic. They will remain here until the new year, and the return of another Spring.
