Stairway Notebook, painting by Mandy Roeing Notebook

The painting featured on this notebook is titled, "Le Meilleur est dans l'Escallier," which roughly translates to "The best is in the stairs." It is a French saying, and I equate it to the American saying, "It's about the journey, not the destination." I love how stairs are such a great metaphor of that! As these stairs lead away into the mysterious and unknown, all we can focus on is the here and now, the stairs themselves. I really enjoyed painting the old and weathered texture - it makes me wonder just how many people's journeys they have been a part of.
