Image Credit (SAU 22): Antique NeoGothic Stabat Mater image from a devotional print entitled Calvary designed by Baron Jean-Baptiste Bethune (1821-1894), printed in chromolithography with gilt accents, and published by the Socièté de St. Augustin, Bruges, Belgium, last quarter of the 19th century. From the designer’s private collection of religious ephemera. + The text beneath the image is from Philippians 2:8 and reads: “Humiliavit semetipsum factus obediens usque ad mortem” which translates “He humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death” (ASV – American Standard Version).
