St. Paul's Chapel Sepia Postcard
Completed in 1776, St. Paul's Chapel, located at Broadway & Fulton Street in Lower Manhattan, is the oldest surviving church in NYC and the longest continually-used public building in Manhattan. The chapel survived both the NY Fire of 1776 which destroyed at least a quarter of the rest of the small city, as well as the 9-11 attacks on the WTC, originally rising directly behind the spire. Following the attack, the chapel remained open around the clock and served as a site for rest, food and emotional support for the rescue workers.
