St. Maria Goretti suffered a fatal attack, but offered forgiveness to her attacker before she died knowing that she could not carry vengeance to the Kingdom of Heaven. Years later (and after her killer had paid for his crime) he was a converted soul who was actually present at her canonization. She is one of the saints I feature in my book, "Arise to Blessedness" (by @AveMariaPress).
