Little of her subsequent career--her successes on the battlefield, her staunch resolve in the face of her judges--can be explained by purely natural means. The extraordinary tale of this young saint remains its excitement and inspirational qualities to this day. St. Joan is the patroness of prisoners, France, soldiers, women in the armed forces, and people ridiculed for their piety.
