Chromolithography, which employed limestone slabs in its printing process, is distinguished by irregular "dots" of colour visible in its output. More regular patterns were achieved by using Ben Day Dot stencils. Our stippling effect here mimics a pattern found in ancient Roman floor tiles. Don't like the stippled background?
