While Scotland is the most famous example of a country under the patronage of St. Andrew, it is by no means the only one. St. Andrew is also the Patron Saint of Barbados, Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Russia, and Ukraine. Here, a pensive St. Andrew, clad in a white robe and blue mantle, leans on a large, wooden x-shaped cross or saltire which was the instrument of his martyrdom c. 70.
