Spring Peeper (Pseudacris crucifer) Treefrog Items Tie

Spring Peeper (Pseudacris crucifer) is a chorus treefrog that spends most of it’s time on the ground or in low growing plants. They begin singing as soon as the days get above freezing, and we love to listen to them as it means Spring is very near. This little guy is a bit far from water – the nearest small pond is a quarter mile away – and apparently likes living at the edge of the woods where the hydrangeas and low forbes grow. They can live up to three years, are about an inch long, and hunt beetles, small insects, and spiders in low vegetation and mostly at night. Peepers hibernate under loose bark or under logs, and their bodies can even partially freeze without harm to them because they produce glucose (like anti-freeze) which protects their internal organs.
