Flag of the Soviet Union The flag of the former Soviet Union is red in colour, with a yellow hammer and sickle, and a yellow star in the top left. It was originally adopted in 1923, and the most recent version came into use in 1941, until 1991. It has a 1:2 ratio. Note that any distortion in the preview image is caused by compression artifacts, and won't be printed.
