Sorrowing Old Man At Eternity's Gate-A painting by the famous Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh. Painted in 1890 and based on an earlier lithograph,he completed it two months before his death,at a time when he was severely ill. The lithograph was based on a pencil drawing called 'Worn Out', one of a series of studies he made in 1882 of a pensioner and war veteran, Adrianus Jacobus Zuyderland. The painting depicts an old man with his head in his hands, sitting on a stool,awaiting his inevitable death.
