St. Thomas More (1470-1535) was truly an English Renaissance man: He was a lawyer, statesman, social philosopher, author, family man, and Christian humanist. He also became a martyr under Henry VIII because he opposed the King's divorce of Catherine of Aragon and his taking the title "Supreme Head of the Church of England". Today, St. Thomas More is the patron saint of legal professionals, civil servants, and religious freedom. + Image Credit (SAU 026): Antique image of St. Thomas More (after Hans Holbein the Younger) from a late 19th century chromolithographic devotional print drawn by Baron Jean-Baptiste Bethune (1821-1894) and published by the Socièté de St. Augustin, Bruges, Belgium, in the designer’s private collection of religious ephemera. + Feast: June 22
