Anton Mauve was a realist painter and most of his work depicts people and animals in outdoor settings. He signed his paintings 'A. Mauve' or with a monogrammed 'A.M.'. A master colourist.
Anthonij (Anton) Rudolf Mauve was born on 18 September 1838 in Zaandam, a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. A year after his birth, the family moved to Haarlem where Mauve grew up.
He was apprenticed to the painter Pieter Frederik van Os followed by Wouter Verschuur. In his further development he worked with Paul Gabriël.
In 1872 Anton Mauve moved to The Hague where he became a leading member of the Hague School of painters and one of the founders of the Hollandsche Teekenmaatschappij in 1876.
He also played a leading role in the development of the Pulchri Studio, The Hague's most influential art society at the time.
In the last two years of his life Mauve settled in the village of Laren in the region surrounding Hilversum called het Gooi. The group of painters who settled there, including Jozef Israëls and Albert Neuhuys, came to be known collectively as the Larense School.
He was married to van Gogh's cousin Ariëtte (Jet) Sophia Jeannette Carbentus, and he was a major influence on van Gogh, who revered him. He is mentioned, directly or indirectly, in 152 of van Gogh's surviving letters.
Mauve died suddenly in Arnhem on 5 February 1888.

Upon seeing that I could print my personal photo onto a deck of cards, I was very excited. Seeing the image that I captured 54 times while playing card games is an a great way to spend time. There is no limit to the amount of people that can play cards and admire the photo on the back. At first I thought it would only be a small amount of people that would want and use the cards but then more and more people wanted to see my photo on the cards. People are recognizing the value of playing cards instead of video games. This was a great idea! The printing turned out exactly as described when I aligned everything before placing the order. Very happy with the way the printing turned out.

Thank You - I am organizing a memorial tournament for a great friend. The cards are fantastic. They feel almost like real Bicycle Cards. The image I uploaded took beautifully. I will likely be ordering more. .
