Seurat's The Circus Sideshow (Parade de Cirque) Poster

A classic Neo-impressionistic scene (one of only a handful of major figure paintings that Seurat produced during his short life), this artwork has passed into the public domain and makes wonderful gifts and other products. Circus Sideshow (1888) is a wonderful work showing circus workers on a stage outside the show trying to drum up business. The dark tones of the night scene are softly enhanced and the muted colours brought out by the twinkling gaslit (gaslight) setting. Nine major gas lights light the scene from above. Georges Seurat is considered the founder of Neo-impressionism, which evolved out of pointillism and other post impressionistic schools.
