The dabchick or Little Grebe is a small and pretty bird that is fouond in most of Eurasia and Africa. This original photograph of an immature Dabchick floating on a lake was taken in South Africa and is in colour. The pale bill with the vertical black band near the base of the lower jaw and the pale tan and brown feathers are clearly visible against the grey blue water of the lake.
