Scottish Declaration of Arbroath Tartan Cushion

Scottish Declaration of Arbroath Tartan Cushion

This cushion for supporters of independence for Scotland features the famous words from the historic declaration of Scottish independence known as the Declaration of Arbroath. It was originally written in Latin and signed on April 6th, 1320, at Arbroath Abbey, six years after Robert the Bruce defeated the English at Bannockburn in 1314. The stirring words in black lettering on a soft cream background read 'For as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.' The declaration is flanked either side with a graphic of a Scottish thistle decorated with a photograph of one of the oldest plaids in existence, a mens red and green tartan tailcoat from the 1820s on show at Glasgow Museums. The border is the Clan Stuart, or Stewart, dress tartan. The other side of the cushion features a graphic of the Scottish flag bordered with the Clan Stuart tartan. The design is inspired by the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn taking place this year. The referendum on independence for Scotland from the Westminster government also takes place this year, on 18th September 2014, when people living and working in Scotland will vote on our country's future as an independent nation.

I love putting my art collages on these pillows. The image is perfectly printed. And I love the outdoor fabric option... [ the pillow does not get saturated, even in a deluge]! The quality is awesome - these pillows are plump, and DO NOT FLATTEN with use. The images on front and back are perfectly registered. Awesome printing!
