National flag of Scotland The Scottish flag consists of a white cross, or saltire, against a blue background. It is also known as St. Andrew's Cross, or simply the Saltire. The flag has been in use since the 16th century, and is the world's oldest sovereign flag. Note that any distortion in the preview image is caused by compression artefacts, and won't be printed.
