The Schell Bridge in Northfield, MA, has been closed for years, but remains one of the most photographed spots on the Connecticut River. Mr. Schell built the bridge with his own money as a surprise for his wife to shorten the buggy ride from the train station to their chateau. A local group is now raising funds to preserve the bridge and re-open it for a hiking and biking trail.
