Satellite, Communications Museum, St. Petersburg Photo Print

"Satellite in Russian Communications Museum, St. Petersburg, Russian Federation" by Catherine Sherman. A Soviet Satellite is on display in the atrium of the Central Museum of Communications, which is named after A.S. Popova - one of the oldest scientific and technical museums in the world, was founded in 1872. The museum is in St. Petersburg, Russian Federation. Popova was a great Russian radio pioneer. The museum is housed on Pochtamtskaya Ulitsa ("Post Office Street") in the former palace of Prince Alexander Bezborodko, a prominent statesman in the reign of Catherine the Great. The ballroom in the palace is available for events. A unique collection of the museum, dedicated to the history of the development of communications, is made up of exhibits on the history of postal, telegraph and telephone communications, radio communications and broadcasting, television, mobile, space and satellite communications. The collection of museum funds includes the State Collection of Signs of Postal Payment of the Russian Federation invaluable for all philatelists of the world. Among the exhibits presented for viewing, you can see, for example, old roadside letters, and tsarist decrees, and the first radio receiver, A.S. Popov, and the first civil communication satellite "Luch-15". The museum was opened on 11 September 1872 as the Telegraph Museum. The head of the Telegraph Department of Russia Carl Luders proclaimed the foundation of this museum: “ …For the purpose of familiarisation of all the telegraph workers and other interested persons with all innovations and improvements in the field of telegraphy, it is proposed to organise a permanent museum in Saint Petersburg, based on objects presented at the Moscow Polytechnic Exhibition… ” In 1884, the post office branch was added and the museum was transformed into the Postal and Telegraph Museum. By the late 1970s, the museum housed more than 4 million stamps, stamped envelopes, and postcards. The museum is now a leading institution in its field in the Russian Federation and provides consulting supervision for other telecommunications museums. During the opening hours of the museum, a public science and technology library is open.

Hi, this photo-poster is now located on my refrigerator. I thought it was going to be a poster-size poster because I don't understand the metric measurements that are posted on the website. It turned out to be the size of a photo and now has a place of honour on my fridge. Was originally intended for a friend, but I thought it applied to me too: "World's Best Cat Mom"! There a lot of us out there! The printing was excellent -- vivid colour; sharp contrast.
