Sara's Mental Health Greeting Cards

SmARTfully Mental Health Cards evolved when I realized a need exists for greeting cards that relate specifically to people like me who live with Depression and Anxiety. As an artist who has these mental conditions, I recognized that most if not all get well cards are either general in scope or, if specific, they're intended for those who have physical discomfort or pain from a physical condition or illness. Mental illness and pain are equally real yet there aren't wellness or encouragement cards that relate specifically to the millions of people who are so affected! Why? Because words (and actions) escape people when it comes to mental illness and the huge portion of our world's population suffering in pain from them. Have a physical problem, and people flock to the injured party with cards and gifts. Have a mental illness and people run in the opposite direction because they don't know what to say or do. Sara's Cards provide an answer for caring individuals who wish to connect with someone they know in mental pain. To create them, I use my original artwork and designs together with thoughtful, nuanced language to convey insight, care, and compassion. Further, as these mental health cards occupy their place alongside conventional get well cards, they serve a dual purpose: to raise awareness of mental pain as something of equal gravity to physical pain and to help reduce stigma and shame which occur all too often with mental illness.
