The children were rapt with attention. The man's words struck a chord within them and they were filled with joy. They had to share this newfound friendship with God with their parents. Soon, the parents wished to go back to going to Holy Mass with their children. That man was Saint John Francis Regis. He travelled from town to town sharing simple yet powerful words of salvation. Many farmers, workers and country folk were converted through his preaching! Every day, he was busy living out his mission of hearing confessions in the morning and visiting prisons and hospitals in the afternoon. He did not spend much time for himself but kept busy serving his flock. He usually ate only apples and black bread and whatever else was available.
