The Russian Orthodox church was built on Unalaska Island in the 1790's during the Russian occupation of Alaska. This is a view of the south side of the church on a winter's morning taken from across the Illiuliuk River in the foreground. Behind the church, Ballyhoo Mountain can be seen, covered with snow, on Amaknak Island, which is located in the bay of Unalaska on Unalaska Island.
