During the last week of August at The Ranch, the hummingbirds are feeding (and fighting) constantly at the feeder. So I try an experiment. After covering the feeder with a towel, I pour sugar water into my hand and stand very still. Soon 3 or 4 hummingbirds are buzzing around, but the RUFOUS/ALLEN'S are the only ones brave enough or hungry enough to eat from my hand. __________________________________ __________________________________
