Rue du chat qui peche postcard

Rue du Chat-qui-Pêche is considered the narrowest street in Paris. It is only 1.80m wide for the whole of its 29m length. It is located in the 5th arrondissement, on the Rive Gauche of the Seine. According to legend, in the 15th century, a clever alchemist lived in the neighbourhood, and he was always in the company of a little cat. An adept fisher, the cat was able to extract fish from the Seine two steps from the road. Convinced that there was some diabolical relation between the alchemist and the cat, and they were in fact the one being, three students threw the poor cat in the river. Neither was seen for some time, then suddenly the alchemist reappeared, having returned from a holiday, and the cat was fishing quietly at the riverside.
