【Maru ni Seigaiha】A pattern that was popular during the Edo period. In the Genroku era, a lacquer craftsman named Kansai Seigaiha created this design. 'Seigaiha' is the name of a piece of Gagaku music, and it is named so because the performers wear a garment with the Seigaiha pattern. The pattern consists of waves that are divided into four parts and repeated. Kansai Seigaiha popularized this pattern during the Bunroku era. (From 'Kamon Hyakuwashi (Vol. 2)' by Mototsugu Niwa) This design was created based on the above book. (2013/5/3)

This mug was exactly as described. I have purchased the stainless steel one before and the white is a nice change (stainless steel inside). I found the lavender purple a little light for my liking but that's my fault. Next time I'll choose a more grapey purple.
