RICKWOOD CAVERNS STATE PARK - WARRIOR, ALABAMA POSTCARD

Rickwood Caverns State Park is a state park located in Warrior, Alabama, near Birmingham, Alabama, USA. The underground "miracle mile" is composed of magnificent passages and beautifully lighted rooms accented with thousands of sparkling white limestone formations. The park was privately owned and operated until the early 1970s when it was acquired by the Alabama State Park system in 1974. Described as "mysterious and beautiful", the caverns feature guided tours of the so-called "miracle mile" of active "living" formations, spring-fed pools, and other curiosities. The park surrounding the caverns features 380 acres of wilderness, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, picnic area with shelters, hiking trails, playground, campground, panning for gemstones and gift shop.
