Rhapsody of Blues - Calendar

Blue is my favourite colour. Is it yours, too? Or perhaps someone you know... As you follow the seasons with this calendar, you will discover landscapes, flowers, and wildlife that share the colour blue. Take in the pale blue light following a snowstorm, a Bluejay twosome (I call this photo "The Lookout"), and the blue ice of March thawing. Spring begins in my gardens with the tiny blue blossoms of Siberian Bugloss and my Siberian Iris finish out late May. Learning to fly is hard work as this little Bluejay fledgling discovered. Fortunately, it landed on my butterfly bush, near the cover of my raspberry bushes. Summer unfolds with bountiful Blue Hibiscus shrub, followed by the Blue Hydrangea which fades to light blue and then turns to pale blue and green in early Fall. Blue Campanula, known as Balloon Flowers open their bell-shaped flowers in early July and last through October. By October, I have clipped my blue Globe Thistle and dried a vase or two. One day a few autumns ago, I came across this majestic old tree standing in a spectacular blue sky. Finally, for December I wanted to share this view of our Japanese Maple, still hanging onto some of its beautiful red leaves following a gentle snowfall.
