A traditional Japanese checkers pattern. The motif comes from a photo of a Japanese craftsman. His shirt had this design. It is the type of design you would see on a yukata or a jinbei. Works great in covering surfaces.

The sleeve is made of nice feeling material and seems very durable. I'm not sure how easy it'll be to clean, but the construction seems sound and the fabric is quick thick. I also like the double zipper. The printing is lovely and appears durable. The white on black contrast is nice, and the design very elegant.
