The city of Mashhad has long been one of the centres for production of famous Persian carpets. It is also one of the oldest centres of carpet weaving. This particular rug is signed by master weaver Sabre. The familiar medallion carpet is usually a symmetrical the design that often features a scalloped or starburst circular design in the centre of a floral background.
