The Wallowa-Whitman National Forest is located in Idaho, Oregon and Washington. It ranges in elevation from 875 feet in Hell's Canyon to 9845 feet in the Eagle Cap Wilderness. It stretches from the Blue Mountains and Wallowa Mountains down to the Snake River on the Idaho border. In 1908, the Wallowa National Forest was created from the combination of seven Forest Reserves, and the Whitman National Forest was created by combining three Forest Reserves.
