Statistically males are outnumbered by females in this career field. The design was inspired by individuals involved in autism spectrum disorder research, advocating, therapy and those who are dedicated to educating the public on this complex disorder. The design, a mountain comprised of puzzle pieces in bright colours with a triumphant man and child symbolizes the hard work, dedication and accomplishment of those who work with and advocate for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). This design concept was created from discussions between two mothers with children diagnosed with pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) or autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
